All about that Good Company

So we are doing a little bit of an impromptu get-down tonight at the Dive Bar with our fam #GoodCompany — just a little something something to celebrate the recent signing day between us and BLDBLK Records.

Come thru to Dive Bar tonight, guest DJ Sonny Phono is with us as well.

CIP Pop Up

Not so throooooowback

Concerts in the Park is always one of the livest shows in Sac. For a few months out of the year we get to go and partake in a free concert, cold beer, and hot ass sun.

We were blessed enough to perform at CIP in 2015 with Blackalicious. Knowing that we were going to be in front of a big ass crowd,  it seemed only right that we wanted to be able to bring the fam with us. When we performed, a young Soosh!E, of Hot 1035 fame, jumped on the mic with us to show Sacramento a little of what he had to offer.  The sun was beaming, the crowd was pumped, and fuck it — so were we. Rocking the hometown crowd like that.. was a beautiful trip.

It was not too long after that we found out that show had broken the 24 year CIP attendance record. It’s still pretty fucking crazy to be able to consider ourselves a part of that moment .

Throooooowback.

——————-

Cut to two years later, and it was Soosh’s turn. On June 9th, Soosh opened for Del the Funky Homosapien, and on that night, Soosh brought Sean up for a quick song. Just like two years earlier, being up there with the fam just felt right, ya know?

Turns out that night broke our attendance record….

Back in the Studio

Happy December. It’s cold as shit and DLRN is back in the studio recording new music! Sean and I have been hard at work all over California working on the followup to Neon Noir Deluxe. Out in LA we’ve been tracking at Truth Studios, in Sacto we’ve been visiting the good folks at Alley Ave and Soundcap and as I write this…I’m sipping on a Guinness in the legendary Lady Psychiatrist’s Booth of San Francisco’s Vesuvio Café with an Ableton session running in the background. No spoilers yet on the album title, features, etc…it’s still a little early in the process for that. But the music is coming along smoothly and we’re both very excited for you to hear what we have in the pipeline.

If you’re looking for New Year’s Eve plans, Druskee and I will be spinning at Dive Bar for a GOOD COMPANY NYE PARTY! There’ll be a balloon drop, champagne, and of course all the dope party music you come to expect from a GOODCOMPANY party. Make sure to come early because we do expect to hit capacity very early.

GOODCOMPANY at Neo-Crocker2015

fantasticnegriot

This Saturday, DJ Druskee and I are bringing GOODCOMPANY sound to Sacramento’s Crocker Art Museum for Neo-Crocker 2015. Neo-Crocker is the city’s premier modern culture event and is being headlined this year by blues/soul artist Fantastic Negrito. I saw him play at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco yesterday and the guy is definitely on the cusp of blowing up. Tickets start at $40 and are available at crockerartmuseum.org.

The forecast said 91, outside felt like 95, and the rooftop felt over 100.

Yesterday, the season opener of the GOODCOMPANY Day Party took place up on the rooftop of Sacramento’s Warehouse Artist Lofts. Even though the sun was blazing overhead, it didn’t stop partygoers from coming out and spending a Sunday afternoon with the GOODCOMPANY crew.

The GOODCOMPANY Day Party is Sacramento’s premiere Sunday soiree with resident DJs Druskee (SAC), Epik (SAC), Mooselini the Soul Facist (SF), Drewbacca the Hairless Wookie (OAK) and myself. Last season, the party was held at the now-defunct Witch Room. This year we kicked off the summer series at the brand new WAL rooftop.

Since we were on the rooftop, we had to throw up the canopies to make sure the gear didn’t melt and fill up the kiddie pools filled with water and Tecates to make sure folks stayed hydrated. There were kalua pig tacos and fresh fruits for those with the munchies and of course the best soul/funk/disco/hip hop tunes to two step on a Sunday afternoon.
